Wladimir (Zeev), zionistischer Politiker, * Odessa 17. 10. 1880, ✝ Camp Bethar (N. Y.) 3. 8. 1940; Journalist, forderte die Schaffung eines jüdischen Staates in den Grenzen des biblischen Palästina und geriet damit in Gegensatz zu den gemäßigten Zionisten um C. Weizmann. Er war 1920 Mitbegründer der Haganah; 1925 wurde er Präsident der Weltunion der Zionisten-Revisionisten, 1935 der Neuen Zionistischen Organisation. Aus der von Jabotinsky 1923 gegründeten Jugendorganisation »Bethar« ging die Irgun Zwai Leumi hervor. In Israel werden die Forderungen Jabotinskys besonders von der Cherut-Partei (Cherut) und dem Likud vertreten. - Jabotinsky verfasste auch patriotische hebräische Lieder, einen biblischen Roman über Samson (1926; deutsch »Der Richter und der Narr«), einen Roman über das jüdische Leben in Odessa (»Pyatero«, 1936, russisch) und trat auch als Übersetzer hervor (so übertrug er Dante Alighieri ins Hebräische und das hebräische Werk C. N. Bialiks ins Russische).
